The Pattaya film festival 2012 – jointly organised by dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya hotel, the Goethe-Institute Thailand and BMW (Thailand) in honour of the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany – has entered its second half. The remaining five festival weekends will feature the final five, not-to-be-missed award-winning entries, which are:
“It is a brave initiative of dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya to bring foreign film to Pattaya, especially German films,” said, Mr. Kriengsak Silakong, Director of the World Film Festival of Bangkok. “I have been in the film festival industry for almost a decade, and I can proudly say that the Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival is one of the coolest I have ever attended,” Mr. Silakong continued. “The unique character of the venue – Sunset Lounge – gives an extra-special touch to the event. I am even planning to use dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya as a venue to showcase my tenth anniversary celebration campaign for Bangkok World Film Festival in November.” Audience member Dr. Iain Corness was impressed with the quality of the films screened at the festival: “My wife and I attended the opening night and saw a movie called ‘Good Bye, Lenin’. It was one of the most moving, humorous yet poignant pieces of cinema that it has been my good fortune to watch. We also enjoyed the cosy ambience of the venue. ”A range of German films will be shown each Friday night for the next five weeks at dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya’s rooftop lounge. The films are in German with English subtitles. No admission fee will be charged, and guests can enjoy various available drinks packages.
