Newest Brunch in Town

A brunch like no other hit town on 2 October 2010. Dusit Thani Dubai aims at starting a new tradition among Dubai residents with its launch of the Asian Brunch which is to be held on every Saturday henceforth. Cultural displays and flavourful regional specialties from Thailand, Japan, China, India and Sri Lanka, complimented by artistically-designed special ice carving, transform Dusit Thani Dubai’s 24th floor into a living diorama of Asia.

There is a wide range of variety that Thai dishes have to offer. The feast features salads like Som Tam, Yam Nuea, Yam Som-O, Yam Woonsen, and Larb Gai; and hot food stuff perfectly balanced with steamed rice such as Phad Thai, chicken cashew nuts, shrimps with garlic and black pepper and stir-fried vegetables on oyster sauce. Freshly-cooked (with choices of chicken, beef and fish) red, green and yellow curry are available at the Thai curry station. Assorted Thai desserts and fruit carvings make the Thai corner even more colourful. Cooks in Thai uniforms, noodle soup station and Satay station with live cooking create an interactive Thai encounter for the guests.

Japanese delicacies are a staple of Asian buffets. Newly-cut Sushi and Sashimi varieties, as well as cold noodle soup, are kept fresh and mouth-watering on display. Spicy tuna salad, seaweed salad, and crispy salmon salad with baby spinach add up to create even more appetising starters. Choices of chicken Teppanyaki, beef Terriyaki and Yakisoba with shrimp leave guests ample choices for a heavy meal. A Live Tempura Station is certain to enthuse the breaded crustacean lovers. The Japanese theme is not only evident in the food to be served, but also in the over-all look and feel of the buffet stand itself.

Another signature cuisine in any oriental fare is the one hailing from China. To rev up the appetite are hot & sour soup with chicken, beef salad in soya sauce and garlic, bean sprouts salad with glass noodle, and sweet & sour cucumber salad. The version of Peking duck rolls is definitely a must-try. Dim Sum Station of shrimps, chicken, vegetarian and beef, as well as Dim Sum Station housing four of its kind are served in small baskets and Sala Pao. Steamed fish with soy sauce, Sichuan Chicken with Kung Po sauce, stir-fried broccoli and black mushroom in oyster sauce, fried rice with vegetables and stir-fried noodles are ready to fill the stomach. And if there’s still enough room, four kinds of Chinese desserts are up for the taking.

To top it off, Indian and Sri Lankan favourites such as shrimp Tandoori, mutton Biryani and chicken Tikka are presented for gastronomic pleasure.

Gracing the launch was Thailand’s leading food connoisseur, chef, television host and author, ML Sirichalem Svasti also known as “Chef McDang”. Asian Brunch renders value for money at AED 145 (food only), AED 175 (with soft drinks/ juices), AED 200 (with house wine and malt beverage), AED 259 (with sparkling wine), and AED 449 (with champagne and house spirit). Unique Thai cultural dances are to be performed as part of entertainment during brunch.
