Dusit Thani Dubai

Flagship Hotel partners with the Dubai Government for a Greener Future

Dusit Thani Dubai hosted the press conference conducted by the Dubai Municipality to formally announce its Clean up the World 2010 campaign. Dubbed as “Communities Caring for Nature”, the event to be held from 26 to 29 October 2010 is expected to be attended by more than 25,000 volunteers—thus making it the country’s largest clean up drive to date.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in making this event possible. We also thank the children who will be actively participating in the drive. In addition, we are looking forward to welcoming our sponsors, including Dusit Thani Dubai, who will be there with us this October,” said Eng. Salah Amiri, Assistant Director General for Environment and Public Health Services Sector.

Dusit Thani Dubai’s General Manager, Mr. James Wilson, has addressed the panel with great passion in contributing to Dubai’s green initiatives: “We have continuously been proactive in taking responsibility for our environment. Our initiatives have been further acknowledged when we were given the EarthCheck Benchmarked Bronze 2010 status. We encourage recycling, usage of products from sustainable resources and reduction in the use of carbon footprint among others. After all, we are accountable to give our children the earth in a better condition than when we received it.”

Also present in the function were Engr. Hassan Makki, Director of Waste Management Department and Hussain Ghulam, Coordinator of the Clean up the World campaign team and Head of Customer Services and Administrative Support Section in the Department.
