Hua Hin, Thailand - It is often said that Dusit Thani Hua Hin is one of Thailand’s leading hotels with the classic and elegant touch. On 5 – 6 and 8 April 2011, the resort will live up to its reputation with Silpakorn Orchestra Concert 2011 by welcoming members of the 7th Silpakorn Summer Music School (SSMS) to the property where they will be showing their talents in a mini-series of chamber and orchestral concerts.
The 80 SSMS students are amongst the finest young musicians from all over Thailand. Chosen through the highly competitive auditions and come together for a week every summer at the Rehearsal Camp on the beautiful campus of Silpakorn University at Hua Hin, located only two hours away from Bangkok. Once primed, the ensemble will be performing two chamber concerts at the lobby of Dusit Thani Hua Hin from 5 – 6 April, followed by a full orchestra concert at Napalai Ballroom in the majestic setting on 8 April before giving a closing performance at the Mahisorn Auditorium of Siam Commercial Bank Headquarters in Bangkok.
A staggering 1,000 musicians ranging from 14 – 25 years old, have auditioned for SSMS. The students who have been selected received the full or partial scholarship programmes to study with an exceptional array of principal players from the renowned symphony orchestras around the world, including Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, NHK (Japan) Symphony Orchestra, as well as those in Italy and the USA. The special guest conductor for the orchestra this year is musical maestro Hikotaro Yazaki, who will be wielding his magical baton over a magnificent concert programme. Additionally, the performance on the stage also includes Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A Major, and the 7th SSMS Piano Concerto Competition.
