Successful second Operation for first beneficiary child of Dusit Smiles

Six months after Nong Singto (Baby Singto) underwent the first operation to correct his facial deformity in January of this year, doctors successfully performed the second surgery, and they say another procedure will be done early next year. Because Nong Singto was born with a more complicated facial defect, he will need multiple surgeries to completely transform not only his facial features but also his life.

Nong Singto, whose full name is Kongphop Sumarn, is the first beneficiary child of ‘Dusit Smiles,’ the Corporate Social Responsibility programme launched by Dusit International at the beginning of 2010. Since then, hotels and resorts as well as business and education units of the leading Thai hospitality brand and its entire Dusit Family have initiated various fund-raising activities to help support operations for children who desperately need the simple but life-changing surgery under the ‘Operation Smile’ organisation. The operation costs approximately US 240 per child.

His parents told Operation Smile (Thailand) and Dusit Thani Pattaya that they felt the pain their nine-month old baby endured after he came out of surgery at Somdej Phranagchao Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip, Chonburi. Also, they added that these procedures would eventually be over, and soon their son would be able to live a normal life. They expressed their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Operation Smile and the entire Dusit International for giving them the chance to help build a new life coupled with fresh beginnings for their baby boy.
