Organization of the Islamic Conference Picks Dusit as Venue of Ground-breaking Symposium
Dusit Thani Dubai is one with the Muslim World in enacting their goals for the future
Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Organization of the Islamic Conference held its Mid-term Review Meeting on the Implementation of the Ten Year Program of Action (TYPOA) and the Vision 1441 H for Science and Technology (Vision 1441) at the Al Wasl Ballroom of Dusit Thani Dubai during 4-6 December 2010. Being the second largest inter-governmental organization next to the United Nations, OIC is comprised of 57 states from around the world. It safeguards the collective voice of the Islam community and protects its interests in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony.
Secretary General Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu spearheads the reforms in the General Secretariat, as well as the overall execution og the strategic vision and agenda of the OIC. Among the distinguished leaders who addressed the panel were Coordinator Genereal of COMSTECH Dr Atta-ur-Rahman and Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology Ambassador Abdul Moiz Bokhari.
The symposium delved on the continued significance and relevance of the objectives and goals of the TYPOA and Vision 1441. Initiatives made by member states were acknowledged. Issues and bottlenecks were raised and addressed to further strengthen the body's implementation movements. The floor was open to suggestions and recommendations as to the future direction of the both projects. Towards the end of the meet, formulations were produced from the inputs of the OIC leaders and members.
