A Night with Frank
Real good music can not only soothe one's senses and be a balm to the soul, it can take you on a trip down memory lane.
Last September 6, guests at the Dusit Thani Manila were transported to a brightly colored land of cigar-riddled nightclubs and soirees brimming with quartets playing free-spirited jazz music and smartly dressed gentlemen, as English singer and actor Richard Shelton serenaded them with the lovely and timeless music of Frank Sinatra.
Billed “Frankly, I'm Back. The Best of Frank Sinatra,” the one-night only dinner-dance concert also featured internationally acclaimed actor Nigel Miles-Thomas as Peter Lawford from the famed Rat Pack.
In between exchanging repartee with Miles-Thomas, Shelton treated the audience with stellar renditions of the crooner's greatest hits, including “Fly Me To The Moon”, “I've Got A Crush On You”, “I've Got You Under My Skin”, and “The Lady Is A Tramp”. He ended the night with a fan favorite and classic “My Way” no less.
Shelton left the guests spellbound and wanting for more, especially when he came down and serenaded former First Lady Imelda Marcos with “My Funny Valentine” in a cappella.
Shelton, who gained prominence in the United Kingdom for his vast theatre repertoire and notable portrayals of Sinatra, had great rapport with the guests, and easily won them over with his natural charm, steely-eyed confidence, suave look, and velvet voice reminiscent that of Sinatra during his heydays.
A night of reminiscences, unadulterated music, and many shared laughs in between, Shelton's dinner-concert is just one of great things you can expect from Dusit Thani Manila's wellspring of delightful surprises.
