Dusit Thani Pattaya bikes for a cause during ‘Car-Free Day’ campaign

General manager Chatchawal Supachayanont led the staff and management of the eco-friendly Dusit Thani Pattaya and hundreds of bike lovers  who braved the rain on 15 September to ride their bicycles around the city and be part of World Car-Free Day, an annual environmental campaign created by the Europe-based World Car Free Network.

Mr Supachayanont, who is also the vice president and chairman of the Environment Committee of the Thai Hotels Association, was joined by Pattaya City Mayor Ittiphol Khunplome in getting the event started. The global occasion was organized by the Green Leaf Foundation of Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Hotels Association-Eastern Chapter and the Pattaya Bike Club.

Cycling lovers from all walks of life included the city’s tourism and hospitality officials who completed the entire route despite the rain.  ‘Car Free Day’ was aimed to raise awareness on reducing gas consumption as well as air and noise pollution. The city’s traffic police were deployed in the areas covered to ensure everything went smoothly.
