Dusit Thani Pattaya shares success of ‘Bangkok Chefs Charity Gala and Auction 2011’

Dusit Thani Pattaya was one of the country’s leading resorts to share the success of the recent ‘Bangkok Chefs Charity Gala and Auction 2011’. The event generated proceeds  close to THB12 million. All charity funds raised since the affair’s inception in 2009 have benefitted underprivileged schoolchildren across Thailand.

For three consecutive years, the Royal Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok has been the venue of the prestigious charity event, presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. On 4 August, 23 executive chefs from various five-star resorts and hotels and from Thai Airways International gathered to showcase their culinary panache via a nine-course gourmet menu.

Dusit Thani Pattaya’s Executive Chef, Adrian W. O’Herlihy worked with his team composed of Jose Borja (Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel), Mario Hofmann (Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok), Dominique Bugnand (Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai) and Santo Zoppies (Thai Airways International) in creating the selection of canapés and hors d’oeuvres.

“It’s been a truly exciting experience,” said Chef O’Herlihy. “The privilege and honour of working hand in hand with the most brilliant chefs in the kingdom was just fantastic, doing something we loved and for a great cause.”

The charity gala and auction was put together by sisters Nuntiya and Patcharin Hame Ung Gull of Gourmet One, fine food importer. The 22 participating hotels included Dusit Thani Pattaya, Dusit Thani Bangkok, and Thai Airways International.
