Thai Inspiration in True Form at 2010 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon
Dubai’s first Thai hotel raises funds to help children in MENA region
Dusit Thani Dubai’s Director of Rooms, Sylvie Zotoff, took part in the full 42km marathon at the 2010 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon last Friday. A new resident of Dubai, this was Sylvie’s first Dubai Marathon, where she crossed the finish line in 3:59:58. Sylvie has previously run in the Chicago Marathon and San Jose Marathon in the USA.
Giving and helping others is a large part of Thai culture. As a Thai hotel, this part of Thai culture is greatly reflected in Dusit Thani Dubai’s ethos and practiced by its employees. For her first Dubai Marathon, Sylvie pledged to raise funds for Operation Smile, Dusit Thani Dubai’s charity that aims to help children born with facial deformities within the Middle East & North Africa region. Guests of the hotel, tenants in the hotel’s apartments, and hotel employees all joined Sylvie in helping to raise funds for Operation Smile by pledging their support for every kilometer that Sylvie completed in the Marathon. Sylvie has raised thousands of dirhams from her participation in the Dubai Marathon, which will contribute to Dusit Thani Dubai’s Operation Smile project.
