Dusit Thani Dubai

Best of Muay Thai from Southeast Asia, Middle East and Europe Battled it out at Dusit Thani Dubai

Muay Thai finds home in the United Arab Emirates

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The rooftop of Dusit Thani Dubai's parking building was transformed into a spectacular venue for this year's Professional Muay Thai event. Partnering with Dubai Martial Arts Academy and Elite Boxing, Dusit Thani Dubai concluded "War on the Shore 3" - Thailand vs. Middle East last 25 November 2010. The iconic form of the hotel's building representing the 'Wai' Thai greeting, as well as the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifah, served as backdrop to the Thai boxing extravaganza in celebration of Loi Krathong.

To open the evening, Dusit Thani Dubai's very own performers showcased the graceful movements of Thai cultural dances. Smiles engulfed the ring, which seemed to represent the calm before the sporting storm. Formally welcoming the fighters was Thai model, TV presenter and actress, Ms Sonia Couling — the 'face' of Thailand vs. Challengers series. The night was comprised of eight riveting fights including four warm-up bouts, three matches, and the Superfight for the WMC Middle East title as the main event.

Opening fights saw the battle of brawn between Mohammed Sammy (W) and Mohammed Sanad, Daniel Nuamah (W) and Mostafa Said Hassan, Gadshimirza Osmanov (W) and ANas Arab Amsamraee and Mafomed Idigov (W) and Tahseen Takleh. Adding to the tension was the traditional thumping of Thai drum as the bout progressed, with beats getting faster as the fight progressed. Thailand's Samranchai 96 Peenung won over Iran's Mostafa Abdollahi, proving Samranchai 96 Peenung victorious in this bout. Massive blows and action-packed takedowns reigned throughout the rounds. Yodvisanu Sor Kittichai (W) and Ole Or Piripinyo, two Thai natives, demonstrated the impactful Thai martial arts the way it's ought to be executed—powerful and methodical. Ahmed Saadi from Tunisia won by knock-out over Ja Maw Phumphanmuang, putting a 'spice' into the crowd of various United Arab Emirates locals and expatriates.

Prior the introduction of the contenders for the title fight, Dubai Martial Arts Academy presented a special title belt to Dusit Thani Dubai for being the home to 'War on the Shore 3.' General Manager Mr James Robert Wilson had the honour of receiving the token. Finally, new WMC Middle East titleholder French.

Antoine Siangboxing— only nineteen years of age, gained dominance against Swiss Dominik Zidov with feisty and quick punches, toppling the older opponent in numerous occasions. The latter showed immense sportsmanship and graciousness amidst defeat.

The fifth and final installment of the Thailand vs. Challengers for 2010 was a successful finish to the series that has gone from country to country, welcoming Muay Thai fighters to challenge Thais in their own sport. Flying kicks, impactful fists and a spinning armour of bodies may have had conquered the event, but so as camaraderie and respect among fighters.
