Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket rolls out its first Dusit Charity Cup 2011
Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket will hold its first charitable bowling tournament, the Dusit Charity Cup 2011, on 20 August 2011 at CS Bowl, Big C Phuket. The winning team will be awarded the Governor's Cup trophy inscribed by Phuket Governor Tri Augaradacha.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the ongoing Dusit Smiles - Operation Smile Thailand programme. This worldwide organisation mobilises medical professionals to provide safe and effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities, such as cleft lip and cleft palate.
Dusit International adopted Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org) as one of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner in early 2010. Last November, the first mission gathered donations from envelopes placed in rooms and throughout Dusit International hotels, plus the proceeds of charity auctions, staff donations and sporting fundraisers. An impressive US$ 32,000 – equivalent to one million Thai baht – was raised to fund treatment for 72 children in Si Sa Ket, Northeast Thailand.
“There is no greater gift than giving itself,” said Mr Peter Komposch, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. “We can make a positive difference to the lives of these suffering children. In return, they put smiles on our faces as well.”
Dusit International’s CSR programme also supports benevolent activities on an international level, including projects in the Philippines, Ethiopia and Kenya.
For the Dusit Charity Cup 2011, the registration fee of THB 1,500 per team covers the rental of bowling shoes and refreshments. For more information or to register, contact CSR Coordinator Ms Wineeporn Sinsaengwat: Tel +66 (0)76 362 999 # 7401 or e-mail:
