Over the past two months, Dusit Thani Pattaya has shared the joys and successes of female sports celebrities in professional tennis and golf. On Sunday, 24 February, 24-year old Inbee Park from South Korea emerged as this year’s champion of the Honda LPGA Thailand, held at the Siam Country Club’s Old Course. Ms Park thanked her supporters after her victory and headed straight for the Suvarnhabhumi International Airport right after the finals.

The top sixty female players of the Ladies Pro Golfers Association competed in the 72-hole stroke play tournament with no cut to win the prize money of US$1.5 million or 45 million Baht and the special hole-in-one prize, all-new CR-V with a 2.4 liter engine (4-wheel drive) priced at 1,524,000 Baht. This year’s tournament also showcased famous names including Ai Miyazato (2010 winner), Suzann Pettersen (2007 winner), Choi Na Yeon, Stacey Lewis, Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer and Thai rising star golfers Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn, among others. Dusit Thani Pattaya is the official host hotel of the event in cooperation with BBTV Channel 7, Honda Thailand and other sponsors.

The event has grown in popularity amongst golf fans in Thailand and has brought worldwide fame and attention to the city of Pattaya as an excellent golf destination. Dusit Thani Pattaya has been the official hotel for the event since 2009 and has since shared the joyous moments of the triumphant LPGA golfer after her win.

Before the tee off on the 21st of February, participating golfers were welcomed to a cocktail reception at the hotel’s extended terrace, The Point. A charity night was also held on Wednesday at the hotel’s Napalai Ballroom in which personal items and a golf

bag autographed by the LPGA players raised over 300,000 Baht for Support of the Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand, under the patronage of HM the Queen.

One of the major items sold for auction during the charity event was a golf bag autographed by the LPGA players such as this year’s champion, Inbee Park.
