Dusit Thani Pattaya congratulates Yani Tseng for winning the Honda LPGA Thailand 2011
For three consecutive years now, Dusit Thani Pattaya has been the official host hotel to the Honda LPGA Thailand and has had the honour and pleasure of extending its warm service and hospitality to the international lady golfers taking part in the world-class event. In 2009, the five-star resort shared the joy that Mexican Lorena Ochoa felt when she won the title. Last year, Japan’s Ai Miyazato was overwhelmed by the jubilant cheer of her fans waiting at the hotel lobby after she took home the crown. On Sunday, 20 February, 22-year old Yani Tseng from Taiwan beamed with pride while posing with her fans as soon as she returned straight from her victory at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course.
This year’s line up of lady golfers consisted of the world’s top 50 professional golfers from the LPGA list including Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie, Shin Yijai, Choie Na Yeon, Ai Miyazato and Yani Tseng. The tournament was the first stop on the 2011 LPGA Tour. The pre-tournament schedule included a casual cocktail reception held at the hotel’s extended terrace, The Point that provided the perfect night backdrop of Pattaya Bay. This was followed by the Charity Auction Night on 16 February at the Napalai Convention of Dusit Thani Pattaya. During the event, top players auctioned off their personal items for charity and enjoyed a night of music and fantastic food. The gala was attended by all the event sponsors and LPGA golfers who graciously signed autographs and posed for pictures throughout the night.
In his comments after the successful tournament, the resort’s General Manager, Mr Chatchawal Supachayanont thanked all the sponsors and organisers for having chosen Dusit Thani Pattaya as its host hotel. He stressed that the LPGA Tour had helped in putting the resort city on the list of great destinations as far as golf competitions are concerned. He also added that it had been another great honour for Dusit Thani Pattaya to be part of the event.
Before the LPGA tournament, the resort also hosted the PTT Pattaya Open 2011, part of the World Tennis Association international events in which Daniela Hantuchova emerged as the winner after defeating two-time defending champion Vera Zvonareva.
Straight from her success at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course where she took the crown of this year’s Honda LPGA Thailand, Yani Tseng came home to the cheer and congratulatory greetings from the staff and management of Dusit Thani Pattaya, the official host hotel of the world- class golf tournament.
