One of the key elements of the HR Networking Meeting was an introduction to IIP by Dr Alaa Garad, a specialist in employee standards and practices, and the pioneer of IIP in the Middle East.
Dusit Thani Dubai aligned with IIP towards the end of 2011 in a bid to further position the hotel as a preferred employer. The hotel was the first hotel in the Dusit International group and in the region to gain recognition by IIP, gaining The Standard certificate.
Talking about the partnership with IIP, Mr Wilson said: “We’ve been working with Investors In People for about a year now and from a financial perspective we have a much better staff retention and much better flow through in our profits because of Investors In People.”
The event also served as a platform for Dusit Thani Dubai to share best practices in terms of Emiratization. The hotel has led the way in the recruitment of UAE Nationals seeing four additional local colleagues joining the existing three working at the hotel. Mike Audrain, Director of Human Resources accredits their success to their development of an advanced Emiratization programme with the support of the DTCM, called the Sawasdee programme.
Concluding the event delegates voiced their admiration for the hotel’s achievements and gave great feedback on the proceedings.
