THE GREAT FOOD AT DUSIT THANI MANILA

The first dish that comes to mind when people think of British food is probably the world renowned, fish and chips. But apart from this iconic culinary dish, there are many undiscovered British specialties largely unknown and untried by the Filipino community. That is why Dusit Thani Manila has invited renowned Celebrity British chef, Derek Quelch to host this week long “Great British Food Campaign”. Chef Derek will take those diners on a bold, gastronomic journey to introduce some of those more traditional British specialties to the Manila dining market.
Chef Derek started his culinary journey at Flounders Restaurant in London. His experience has since included stints at world famous hotels such as The Grosvenor House, Savoy Hotel, Claridge’s as well as spending time in France, Switzerland, and Germany. His most recent role was as Executive Chef of The Goring Hotel in London where he gained enormous notoriety among Britain’s elite including members of the British Royal Family where under his guidance the hotel catered for the Middleton family during the Royal Wedding and was subsequently awarded a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty, The Queen of England.
Chef Derek will be showcasing his British style and expertise taking over Tosca Restaurant at Dusit Thani Manila to create dishes like Poached Fillet with Halibut with mussels, Slow Roast Pork Belly and classic British desserts such as homemade Rice Pudding with Plum and Cinnamon jam and his award winning Milk Chocolate and Earl Grey mousse to name a few.

Chef Derek Quelch and his British Food Promotion will take place in Tosca located on the Mezzanine of the Dusit Thani and offer diners both set lunch and evening a la carte menus. Commencing on January 14th -17th, it culminates with a seven course gala dinner tasting menu on the evening of January 17th. Lunch is 12:00 noon until 2.30 p.m. while Dinner is from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
At Basix, get your fill of delectable English dishes with the all-day buffet, which features the Great Carvery for lunch. This gastronomic feast, in partnership with the Embassy of the United Kingdom, is available every Sunday starting January 12. Lunch is priced at PHP1, 850 net per person.
Meanwhile, a genuine Traditional English Afternoon Tea experience awaits at the Lobby Lounge. From January 13-17, guests are treated to a Happy Hour of unlimited English brews and bites from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is priced at PHP750 net/person.
