13th Bangkok Chess Club (BCC) Open 2013 celebrates the winners and the players of the recently concluded tournament

The 13th Bangkok Chess Club Open 2013 has concluded with Australia’s number one, GM (Grandmaster) Zhao Zong-Yuan winning the title over English GM Nigel Short towards the end of the tournament.
During the closing ceremonies held at the Napalai Convention Hall of Dusit Thani Pattaya on 21 April, GM Zhao Zong-Yuan expressed appreciation and shared his victory with the other chess players who participated in the week-long event. Meanwhile, hotel general manager Mr Chatchawal Supachayanont thanked the organizers and the players from over 40 countries for their support and wonderful feedbacks regarding the tournament and the hotel service and facilities. He also encouraged them to come back for a future holiday.
Other winners included FM (FIDE Master) Jirapak Pitirotjirathon who received the top prize for best Thai player, Indian GM Humpy Koneru who won every game and IM Roy Saptarshi who achieved his second GM norm with a win over Nigel Short. Organizers also extended their congratulations to Ma Zhonghan of China, Hamed Nouri of the Philippines and Sardana Rishi of India for receiving IM (International Master) norms.
