Keeping the Songkran tradition well and alive
07 May, 2013
Every year during the Songkran Festival also known as the Thai New Year, Chatchawal Supachayanont, GM of Dusit Thani Pattaya celebrates the occasion and receives Thai New Year greetings and wishes from hotel staff and management as well as guests and their families who join in the hotel’s ceremony marking the first day of the Songkran Festival on the 13th of April. The occasion includes the traditional pouring of scented water over the hands of elders as a gesture of respect and also symbolizes a fresh start in the coming year. Prior to the Buddhist ceremony performed by twenty-nine monks and novices, alms giving is performed at the Napalai foyer where hotel guests also join with their own donations. The hotel management performs the activity and engages their guests in order to help promote and preserve the Thai culture and tradition.
