Supporting temple restoration on Visakha Bucha Day
04 July, 2013
On Visakha Bucha Day 24 May 2013, Dusit Thani Pattaya took to the task of performing charitable deeds including donating 300,000 Baht to the Jittapawan College in Pattaya to help the Buddhist school repair its main pavilion. In a ceremony, hotel general manager Chatchawal Supachayanont led hotel staff and management as well as other benefactors through the Thai Hotels Association in presenting robes and essential items for the monks and novices in the temple compound. The Asana Pavilion has endured the elements of nature for more than forty years and with the fund donated for its restoration, Mr Supachayanont believes that Buddhism teachings will also be protected and religious centres be restored to its original beauty.
Visakha Bucha Day is one of the most important days for Buddhist followers as it commemorates the three important stages of the Lord Buddha; his birth, enlightenment and his passing away. In marking the date, Pattaya City held the ‘Walk, Run & Meditate’ activity participated in by people from all walks of life. Dusit Thani Pattaya staff joined the marathon and brought home a trophy won by Paitoon Wilairat of the F&B department. All runners also donated funds towards charity.
