Dusit continues to strive for the best in culinary standards

Being one of the most successful hotel groups in Asia’s 1st Culinary Cup 2009!

Being known as one of Asia’s best in culinary standards, Dusit International recently scored a  number of awards from Asia’s 1st Culinary Cup 2009, the first international culinary art contest where professional chefs from around the world attended to showcase their talents. The achievements were obtained by world-class chefs from Dusit Thani Bangkok, Dusit Thani Pattaya, dusitD2 baraquda pattaya, Royal Princess Larn Luang, Bangkok, and Dusit Thani College. 

“Asia’s 1st Culinary Cup 2009 is a prestigious competition in which more than 700 top chefs from around the world participated. We are proud to be one of the most successful hotel groups receiving various awards in many categories including Western Type Cooking, Modern Sandwich Making, Fruit and Vegetable Carving on Stage, Italian Hot Pasta Dish, and Contemporary Thai Food. Dusit is not only representing the best Thai service to the world but also the best in culinary as we are continually striving to redefine hospitality standards,” said Mr. Erwin Eberharter, Corporate Executive Chef, Dusit International and Executive Chef, Dusit Thani Bangkok.   

Being the best in culinary is not only about creating excellent cuisine. Developing skilled-manpower to support the culinary industry is as important as innovating new recipes. Dusit always emphasizes on training and developing new talents in order to strengthen its culinary standard. Currently, Dusit employs over 800 professionals in the kitchen brigade across Asia and continues to create more opportunities in this field in order to be in line with its expansion as well as contributing to social developments of the community.

Chefs from il cielo, a contemporary and sophisticated Italian restaurant at Dusit Thani Bangkok showed their best culinary performance by winning a Silver medal from Western Type Cooking contest. Meanwhile, Royal Princess Larn Luang’s chefs won two Silver medals from Modern Sandwich Making contest and Contemporary Thai Food contest. Additionally, dusitD2 baraquda pattaya received two medals, a Silver from Fruit and Vegetable Carving on Stage, and a Bronze from Fruit and Vegetable Carving Show Piece, followed by Dusit Thani Pattaya’s chefs who received three Bronze medals at the competition.

Added to these achievements, many young rising stars from Dusit Thani College, a leading hospitality educational institution in Asia, participated in this competition and received several awards. Some of the highlights include Silver and Bronze medals from Thai Food Contest, and Silver medals from Life Dessert Making Contest, and Fruit and Vegetable Carving on Stage.

The four-day Asia’s 1st Culinary Cup 2009 competition is the first international culinary art contest and a platform where professional chefs from all over the world showcased their talents. It was organised by the Thai-Swiss Culinary Consultants in association with the Thai Chef’s Association, the Thai Hotels Association and the Thai Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), with experts from World Association of Chef’s Societies (WACS) as consultants.

The event was held at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon as part of the Food & Hotel Thailand 2009,  which brought together more than 25,000 hoteliers, marking the Kingdom’s biggest hospitality trade exhibitions featuring food and drink, hotels, catering, bakery, restaurant and kitchen equipments, retail supplies and services.
