Dusit joins TAT’s ‘We Love Local’ campaign to help promote highland communities in northern Thailand

Group CEO, Khun Suphajee Suthumpun, leads company’s efforts to raise awareness of beautiful villages such as Ban Pha Bong, where a wealth of cultural experiences await.

Dusit International has joined the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in its efforts to promote second tier cities around the kingdom and help raise awareness of local products.

As a proud ambassador of the TAT’s ‘We Love Local’ campaign, Dusit will provide support for villages in Mae Hong Son province, northern Thailand.

The company will work closely with communities such as Ban Pha Bong to raise awareness of local products like peanut oil, organic rice, and traditional hand woven bags, and also promote the destination via online campaigns.

Khun Suphajee is one of 10 CEOs who has signed up as a We Love Local ambassador. Each CEO is tasked with helping to generate sustainable income for their respective communities, with a target of 1 million baht in revenue for each community within the first year.

Dusit Donations Support More Smiles

Leading Asian hotel chain Dusit International continues its mission to help bring smiles to children living with facial abnormalities through its Dusit Smiles programme, run in partnership with Operation Smile Thailand (OST).

Recently, representatives of both organisations met at Dusit Thani Bangkok’s Benjarong Restaurant where Dusit COO Mr David Shackleton presented a donation of 205,658.14 THB to Dr. Paul Robere, Board Member of Operation Smile Thailand. The donation brings Dusit Smiles’ year-to-date total to 507,941.72 THB, just over its 2015 goal of 500,000 THB. Dusit’s CSR Team is confident that with 5 more months left to the year, they will continue to raise this figure so that more children can receive the reconstructive facial surgeries they need, completely free of charge.

The donation funds were collected through various initiatives, including staff and guests donations as well as activities such as Colour Miles for Smiles, the student-led 5km charity run held in Bangkok this April.

Also earlier this year, the dusitD2 Chiang Mai hotel provided accommodation and meals for the producers, directors and crew members behind Operation Smile Thailand’s new promotional video, “The Painted Smile.”  The film, conceptualised and shot by multi-award winning advertising agency BBDO, will be shown on various channels including True TV, Major Cineplex, VGI Global Media, TV Direct and more. Dusit International will feature the short film on the TV screens in all guest rooms of its Thailand hotels.

Dusit Smiles

One of Dusit’s top CSR priorities is the well-being and health of children. Dusit Smiles is a CSR programme developed in partnership with Operation Smile, a charitable organisation that mobilises a force of medical professionals to provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery and related medical care for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

Dusit Smiles not only enables the company to raise funds in support of Operation Smile, but it also promotes awareness among clients, partners, and employees through trainings, visits, government relations, and marketing and public relations.
