Dusit Thani Guam Resort has successfully completed the rigorous processes required to meet the international standards for quality management systems. After committing over a year of preparation, the hotel was recently granted certification for the ISO 9001:2015. “The ISO 9001 certification process is about quality and efficiency. It’s having systems in place that in turn will enable higher guest satisfaction, reduce costs by minimizing waste and errors as well as ensuring continuous assessment and improvement,” said Dusit Thani Guam Resort Total Quality Manager, Joel Sanchez. ISO 9001 is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Companies gain certification by implementing policies, procedures and systems that follow and meet ISO standards, which are assessed by a third-party certification body. The certifying body for Dusit Thani Guam was SGS Philippines with the headquarters in Geneva Switzerland. The company is known for inspection, verification, testing and certification of various companies and industries. The certification is comprised of two major stages. Stage 1 is a one day audit which took place in October 2018 and the final Stage 2 audit lasted four days from March 19 to 22. In line with Dusit International’s vision to empower its people to exceed guest expectations, always, the hotel follows total quality management systems designed to ensure a high level of service, including high-quality food safety and environmental management.
