Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket celebrated its 29th Anniversary on 29 November 2016 by arranging a charity dinner to raise funds for autistic children and children born with facial abnormalities. Led by Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket’s general manager, Khun Prachoom Tantiprasertsuk, the dinner was held at the resort’s award-winning La Trattoria Italian restaurant, which was transformed for the night into a special gallery showcasing old photographs of the resort, as well as artworks created by students of Phuket Panyanukul School. Among the highlights of the exhibition was a series of drawings by 10-year-old Wachiravit Samatr, whose mesmerizing patterns drew lots of attention from the crowd. The talented youngster now intends to donate all proceeds from sales of his drawings to heart valve disease patients at Vachira Phuket hospital. The well-attended event had a warm atmosphere bolstered by Khun Prachoom’s rousing speech, which included the key message: “The act of giving without the expectation of something in return is the true definition of kindness.” The event raised a grand total of THB 150,000 which will be donated to Operation Smile Thailand, a not-for-profit, volunteer medical services organization that provides reconstructive facial surgery to indigent children and young adults; and Phuket Panyanukul School, which provides education for children with special needs.
