Refurbished guests rooms and new pool facilities are just two highlights awaiting guests at this luxury beach resort
Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, an upscale beach resort on the north-west coast of Thailand’s largest island, recently marked an impressive three decades of Thai gracious hospitality by revealing its new-look rooms and facilities at a charity gala dinner held in the resort’s tropical gardens.
Owned and operated by Dusit International, one of Thailand’s foremost hotel and property development companies, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket first opened in November 1987 as one of the island’s finest resorts. Located on the pristine Bang Tao beach within the Laguna Phuket resort complex, it has since served as Dusit’s flagship resort in the south, delivering the company’s renowned gracious hospitality to guests from key markets worldwide.
To maintain the resort’s competitive advantage, Dusit International began a major renovation of the property in June 2017. This included refurbishing 135 of its guest rooms and suites, upgrading two of its signature restaurants, and revamping its main free-form swimming pool in the heart of its beachfront gardens. The majority of these renovations were completed end of October.
The renovated guest rooms and suites now include native woods and Thai fabrics in vibrant colors and tones to promote a sense of tranquility. The signature Thai restaurant, Ruen Thai, whose structure resembles a traditional Thai house, has added a new terrace for alfresco dining facing the resort’s lagoon; Casuarina Beach restaurant has been given a fresh, contemporary feel; and the resort’s spacious lobby reception hall has been given a refreshing makeover to resemble a classic Thai mansion.
The resort’s main swimming pool, meanwhile, now has a modern, sleek look plus water slides and features for children. A new Pool Café & Bar adjacent to the pool provides casual dining with splendid sea views.
All of these elements were officially announced at the resort’s 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner, on 24 November 2017, where hotel guests, media, and VIPs gathered for a night of wining and dining and a charity auction featuring artworks created by local children. Part of the proceeds from the dinner, plus all money raised from the auction, will be donated to the Operation Smile Thailand Foundation (OST).
Overseeing the renovations at the property was the hotel’s General Manager, Mr Gordon Aeria, who joined the hotel in May last year bringing with him over 25 years of international hospitality experience with Le Méridien Hotels, AccorHotels Group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels Group and Dusit International.

From now through 31 March 2018, guests who book the Dusit Special Package via the official Dusit App (available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play) will receive 20% discount on the Dusit Best Available Rate plus complimentary breakfast for two persons. Guests who stay a minimum of two consecutive nights under the promotion will receive 1,000 baht dining credit to use during their stay.
