Mario Maurer wows at Dusit Thani Manila
Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer wows at Dusit Thani Manila

August 2016
With his boy-next-door looks, it is no wonder that Thai heartthrob turned heads during his brief visit to Manila, where he stayed at no less than Dusit Thani Manila.

The actor-singer was in town to represent his country Thailand as its newest brand ambassador. He was brought to the Philippines by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as part of its promotional campaign “Experience Thailand with Mario Maurer.” He was joined in this trip by TAT Director for Singapore and the Philippines, Kajorndet Apichartrakul, and was met at the Dusit Thani Manila by Thailand Ambassador to the Philippines Thanatip Upatising and his wife, Worthip Upatising. While here, Maurer helped in showcasing Thailand’s beautiful sights and at the same time encouraged Filipinos to visit his country.

At the Dusit Thani Manila, Maurer was billeted at the magnificent and spacious Presidential Suite and experienced the very best of Dusit Thani’s brand of hospitality, where Maurer felt he was like very much at home.

For dinner, Maurer again got the opportunity to dine at his favorite restaurant while in Manila, UMU Restaurant located at the ground floor. Maurer savored authentic and great-tasting Japanese cuisine that use only the best ingredients and marvelled at the quality of service UMU is known for.

To soothe his tired body after the long and frequent travels, Maurer also tried the signature massage service at Devarana Spa, the best luxury spa at Dusit Thani Manila. Maurer felt like he was literally in a “garden in heaven,” Devarana’s signature concept that made it one of the best spas in the region. Maurer also rode on Thailand’s iconic mode of transport, the “Tuktuk,” a ubiquitous mode of transport in Thailand, much like the Philippines’ very own jeepney. He got on the “tuktuk” at the Dusit Thani Manila coming from the Thai Embassy in Makati, and this same “tuktuk” will stay at the hotel for guests and other onlookers to have the opportunity to admire this popular symbol of Thailand’s transportation system.

It was indeed a short yet meaningful visit for Maurer, who immediately flew to his next destination the following day. Maurer was truly appreciative of the chance to visit Manila once again and experience the Filipino brand of hospitality, which he fondly remembers.

He made a promise to go back after this brief stay and will go to more places he has yet to see. This celebrity with the killer smile from “The Land of the Smiles” will definitely return and find out more why “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”
