Recently, the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism or DASTA in co-operation with Koh Mak Tourism Community Enterprise, travel agencies, and local representatives organised “Koh Mak… Low Carbon” eco-friendly tourism activities where all participants learnt about project awareness to develop the island by planting trees, and releasing sea turtles and marine life into the sea. Dusit Thani Pattaya’s Mr Neoh Kean Boon, General Manager, and Khun Pramot Sothana, Director of Room, joined the Green Hotel Association to participate in the events as representatives of the hotel industry. Dusit Thani Pattaya joined the activity as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility project, which stimulates the hotel to be a volunteer and aware of the environment. As an environmentally friendly hotel, Dusit Thani Pattaya adheres to eco-friendly practices and joins with the local community and organisations to work for a better environment. DASTA has been established in accordance with the provisions of the royal decree establishing the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organisation). DASTA has been operating since 1 October 2003. With roles and responsibilities covering sustainable tourism operation, through co-ordination for the integrated administration of areas with valuable tourism resources, with more flexibility and promptness in operation than that of government agencies and state enterprises, it is as an important driving force in the administration of the country's tourism industry both in the short and long term.
