Eco-friendly Initiatives

Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation prioritizes sustainability with eco-friendly initiatives that include solar power usage and water conservation practices, ensuring a greener footprint while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.

Immersive Experiences

Solar Panels

Solar Panels

Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation leads with sustainability, harnessing the power of solar panels to minimise environmental impact and promote renewable energy solutions.

Through innovative solar initiatives with 1836 panel solar farm at 1 megawatt capacity – our resort is committed to preserving the planet while enhancing guest experiences.

With this, solar power supplies 50% of our resort’s power needs, with an estimated 985 metric tons of carbon savings annually — an equivalent to 45,000 trees planted annually.

Heat Recovery System

Our resort uses a heat recovery system wherein the heat produced by the air conditioning system in every villa is conserved and recovered to provide hot water.

This saves 2,100 kg of carbon dioxide emissions annually – an equivalent 1800 hours of ironing per year (5 hours/day/year).

Lighting systems are also designed for reduced energy consumption.

Water Desalination and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems

Water Desalination and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems

Continuing our commitment to sustainability with an advanced water desalination process, groundwater and seawater into clean, potable water for resort operations.

This reduces reliance on imported water, lowers our carbon footprint, and supports sustainable water independence.

In-House Water Bottling

We also produce own drinking water and bottles it on-site in refillable glass containers provided in every room.

This significantly reduces single-use plastic consumption, reinforcing the resort’s zero-waste goals.

Rainwater Harvesting Through Eco-Friendly Pathways

Rainwater Harvesting Through Eco-Friendly Pathways

The specially designed sand roads serve a dual purpose: they are gentle on the environment and function as natural rainwater catchments, channeling water into the island’s natural aquifer which is then cleaned and treated through our reverse osmosis system.

Nature-Heated Swimming Pools

Both our Sunset and Sunrise pools are lined with solar-absorbing porcelain tiles, which naturally collect and retain the sun’s heat throughout the day, keeping the water comfortably warm without the need for electric heaters.

Turtle Sanctuary

Turtle Sanctuary

Our resort exemplifies sustainability with a dedicated turtle sanctuary, safeguarding endangered species through conservation efforts and educational programs. Hawksbill turtles can be found around the island and come to lay their eggs.

By nurturing marine life and raising awareness, we strive to protect biodiversity and foster a sustainable future for generations to come.

Protected Coral Sanctuary

The waters surrounding the island have been designated as a protected coral sanctuary, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Waste Management

Waste Management

We also operate our own Materials Recovery Facility, ensuring all waste is segregated and processed responsibly in partnership with local government.

Organic waste is composted on-site and reused to enrich the island’s landscaping.

Our Sewage Treatment Plant ensures that wastewater is safely treated before being disposed of.

Community-Centered Sustainability

About 70% of our team members come from our home municipality of Mabini, reflecting our strong commitment to local employment.

The resort actively supports community development through livelihood programmes, education initiatives, and partnerships that foster long-term social and economic growth.

Sustainably Growing Food

Fresh herbs are grown in the Chef’s Garden and used in dishes at the resort restaurants.

A bangus fish farm is also in the island as another way to sustainably grow food for resort guests.

Sustainable Greenery and Landscaping

Sustainable Greenery and Landscaping

Native plants that can thrive on the island are prioritized in the resort’s landscaping.

Bermuda grass is also used as the primary grass in the resort grounds. Because of its properties, Bermuda grass only needs saltwater or brackish water to serve as pesticide, instead of harmful chemicals.

Bani trees and mangroves were also planted along the beach to naturally protect the island’s shoreline from erosion.
