A culinary conversation between two cities begins at Benjarong Manila this October, as acclaimed Bangkok chef Napol “Joe” Jantraget, founder of Banana Blossom, joins Chef Watcharaphon “Ja” Yongbanthom for two extraordinary evenings of Thai gastronomy.
Known for his progressive interpretation of Thai cuisine, Chef Joe brings together classical French culinary training with an instinctive understanding of Thailand’s native ingredients, regional flavours and traditional techniques. His career has been marked by MICHELIN-recognised milestones, including his work at 80/20 and NAWA, where he and Chef Saki Hoshino earned a MICHELIN Star just nine months after opening, followed by the MICHELIN Guide’s Opening of the Year distinction. Today, his Bangkok culinary portfolio includes Samlor, KWANN and Siplor, alongside his continued work in culinary research and development through Banana Blossom.
Welcoming him to Manila is Chef Ja, whose culinary journey at Benjarong has spanned more than a decade. Since taking the helm in 2015, she has shaped a distinctive expression of Thai cuisine that remains rooted in tradition while embracing contemporary techniques and presentation. Her work has earned recognition from Tatler Philippines, the MICHELIN Guide and the THAI SELECT Seal of Approval, among other accolades.
Together, Chef Joe and Chef Ja bring two distinct culinary perspectives to one table. Chef Joe’s progressive, exploratory approach meets Chef Ja’s considered interpretation of Thai heritage, creating an experience that moves between the familiar and the unexpected — with Bangkok and Manila as its inspiration.
