The Maldives is home to some of the planet’s most diverse marine life and provides unique opportunities for aquatic encounters.
Here on Mudhdhoo Island, we’re part of The Maldives’ first and only UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Our 360-degree house reef is home to endangered sea turtles, rays, colorful fish and reef sharks.
Just 15 minutes away by boat, Baa Atoll’s protected marine park, Hanifaru Bay is a tropical haven for yet more rare and exotic aquatic life. The secluded bay comes alive with plankton from May to November each year, attracting manta rays and whale sharks to feed and play. The experts at our Ocean Dive Center are on hand to whisk you over to Hanifaru’s deep blue waters for the unmissable chance to snorkel with these gentle giants.
Due to varying sea and weather conditions, it is sometimes possible that you will not see any marine animals during excursions. This occurrence is due to the unpredictability of nature and is not under the resort’s control.
Only guided fishing is allowed during scheduled excursion activities. Please contact the Dive Centre for more information.
The dress code on the island is casual during the day and smart casual for dinner in the restaurants. Please cover up swimwear when entering the restaurants and bars and follow the guidelines on display.
Men are asked to wear sleeved shirts for dinner. Sunbathing topless and swimming nude are strictly prohibited. Out of respect for local customs, guests should cover their shoulders and knees while visiting local islands or Malé city.
As per Dusit Thani Maldives’ policy, please note that to protect the privacy and security of guests and for the safety of seaplane traffic, the use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles is strictly forbidden within or above the resort area boundaries.
